1953 GMC Pickup Turck - 3/4 ton
I bought the truck in Florida in 1994 and spent 2 years and
approx. $27,000 restoring it to semi-original condition.
I say semi because the engine and drive train are not original GMC.
The engine is a 1958 Chevy 235 and was completely overhauled
by a superb machine shop.
All vacuum was removed, windshield wiper motor is electric and
distributor is electronic.
The restoration was a frame up restoration.
The truck was completely disassembled,
all rust removed and new metal welded in
(all metal replacements were reproduction pieces, stamped and
produced exactly as original).
All parts were individually sanded, primed, painted and
carefully reassembled.
Almost all replacement bolts are stainless.
Truck bed is oak with stainless strips.
Originally a long-bed truck, 9 and 1/4 Inches were removed
from the frame and a completely new, galvanized steel,
short bed installed.
This truck has an original (working) GMC radio
and a Deluxe heater.
All new glass (with exception of two corner windows, which are original).
Must be seen to be appreciated.
