Since purchasing this Transtar on on Ebay in Nov of 2002,
a chapter of this Transtar has had a new start
which I'm sure is surpassing it's old history by leaps and bounds!
This Transtar has been completely restored to better than
original condition with modications.
The Transtar is a 3/4 ton model 2E12 pickup has had
the excellent quality Turner Disc Brake system added
to the front (still manual brakes).
the new hubs and rotors changed the bolt pattern of the 3/4
ton style to the 1/2 ton style bolt pattern.
I changed out the complete differential to a GM 1/2 ton
12 bolt that matched the front bolt hub pattern.
Completely rebuilt the differential with a new positraction carrier,
and installed a new 3.73 ratio ring and pinion.
This gives the truck a 1/2 ton look and ride with the
suspension capacity of a 3/4 Ton.
The restoration was a complete off the frame,
except the cab and the steering column.
The body work done to this Transtar is impeccable,
and took well over a year to complete.
The wiring harness has been replaced and updated.
New high output 100 amp chrome alternator was installed,
as well as a new wiper system from Specialty Power Windows.
A custom under hood panel was designed and fabricated
to cover the instrument panel and battery.
The Studebaker V8 engine was professionally rebuilt by
Nimesh 'Nash' Solanki, from Atlanta,
who does premium high performance Studebaker engines.
It is a 1964 Studebaker 259 cubic inch engine,
with the desirable full flow oiling system.
Custom touches include beautiful finned aluminum scripted
Valve covers, and matching finned valley cover along with
custom finned spark plug covers.
Also it has a custom aftermarket aluminum
2 deuce intake manifold with two Stromberg WW 2 barrel carbs
which were set up by Studebaker performance expert
Also rebuilt was the three speed Borg Warner transmission
complete with overdrive from Stephen Cade at
Stephen Allen's Auto.
The drive Shaft and carrier bearing was also rebuilt and
Front king pins has been replaced.
Mechanically the Transtar runs great and drives great.
I've driven to Omaha and back, and to the
Carolina's several times and driven happily to many other
far off places.
Since the restoration, this Transtar has won
2 Studebaker Drivers Club International Meet First Place awards,
with the most points of 387 and the lowest 382 out of 400.
It has won major awards at several Studebaker Drivers Club
judged meets, and has won numerous awards at regional shows
in the southeastern USA.
There are some road miles on this truck that shows
it likes the highway, so there are a few nicks in the pristine paint.
A new owner could freshen this up easily.
The wide whitewall Diamond-Back tires are now at the
point where they are showing some age and
might need to be replaced in the future.
Right now they are still usable, and have good tread on them.
This truck can be picked up and driven home just about
anywhere the road will allow.
The reason that I am selling this truck is because
I have another Studebaker project calling me.
This Sky Hawk project has taken the backseat for way
too long because I was out having too much fun
with the Transtar.
I need to get back to working on the Sky Hawk.
So the Transtar has to go.
Your chance to own a great Studebaker is now!
