In an effort to raise down-payment money for a home
purchase, we're reluctantly selling my wife's dream car.
We bought this '61 Comet in Alabama in March of 2007,
and drove it home with the plan to drive it
and eventually restore it.
Mileage is 61,000+.
It's "Blue Haze" (sky blue) with aqua interior.
Bucket seats with console.
The 144 c.i. 6-cylinder gets close to 25 MPG
on the highway.
It does leak and burn some oil, but doesn't smoke.
The radiator was resealed and cools the engine well.
The body is in good condition,
with two small areas of rust-through.
One in the lower front corner of the driver door,
and one inside the inner fender well of the left quarter -
It has rare fender skirts,
AM radio, and gets tons of attention
(even the occasional love note under the wiper).
Good tires and new battery.
The brakes pull when applied hard,
so that needs to be checked.
It shifts through all the gears with no trouble.
Interior is presentable.
The buckets have had some repair done
which wasn't the best work.
Four new seat belts.
The back seat is great, and has the
S22 emblem stampled into the vinyl.
The carpet is faded but not torn.
Dash is metal and good.
Headliner is good.
Door panels are good.
Kick panels (by your feet) are worn and cracked.
Overall, the paint is good, but the trunk,
driver door and front edge of the quarter panel
are crackling, chipping and faded.
Lot's of chrome in good condition.
Glass is good.
Original hubcaps, and those sexy cat-eye tail lights
that were only available in '60 and '61.
If you're looking for an unusual, stylish and fun small car
to own, you can't go wrong with this one.
Please, serious inquiries only.
We need to sell and don't have time to waste!
